Yra- Good interview with Rick.
Great point you made on dual mandate- they’re almost diametrically opposed goals.
I think the FED is afraid to raise rates. They have ZIRPed and the economy appears to have gotten better, but they really don’t understand why Main Street is not doing better.
Some leading indicators are flashing RED (Gold/Silver, BLS Index of Industrial Commodities, XRT, ITB, IWM, etc.).
The FED has boxed themselves in. Should the economy turn down, they have nowhere to go with rates and new QE will not be well received.
Should the economy stay ok, and inflation accelerate, raising rates will collapse housing (which appears to already be weakening ……..look at ITB) and the permanent “Carry Trade Economy” we now have.
I could be wrong.
